The Stained Glass Candy Company is a family business, and all of our candy is hand poured & even hand wrapped.  There are no factory assembly lines, no huge wads of candy being extruded through machines (remember those extruding Playdo machines, yuck!) & no candy being lopped off into indiscriminate shapes! 

We pride ourselves on making the most beautiful & most flavorful hard candy available.  Each candy is in a clear wrapper that has the name of the flavor printed on each wrapper.  Those that are sugar free also have the words "sugar free" printed on their wrappers.  The candy is available in small and large elegant gold gift boxes, one-pound bags, and also 5-pound bags for extra $ savings.  Handwritten gift cards with envelopes are also available and listed on almost every page.  Much of our candy orders are “made to order” and are shipped out via United States Priority Mail.  The time from placing an order to receiving it is usually 1-1.5 weeks.  Large candy orders may take a little longer and may be shipped via Fed Ex Ground. 

About our sugar free hard candies

Our sugar free hard candies are made with that same attention to having the absolute ultimate in richer flavor as in our regular candies.  We hear over and over again from people that try our sugar free candies that say they can't believe the candies are sugar free because they can't taste any aftertaste and the flavor continues down to the very last taste.  Our sugar free candies are made with Isomalt which is made from beet sugar and Splenda (sucralose), plus flavorings and color, and they contain half the calories (8-9 per piece) as our regular hard candy (16-18 calories per piece).  Carb content per piece of sugar free candy is about 4g.  Enjoy!

About our regular hard candies

Our regular hard candies are made from sugar and corn syrup plus flavorings and coloring.  Some are naturally flavored and some are artificially flavored (or both), which is indicated on each flavor's web page.  Anise, peppermint, lemon, lime, orange, and clove use natural flavor oils.  Our fruit flavors also contain malic acid which is an acid made from fruit that is often found in foods in health food stores and listed as a natural ingredient, so perhaps we should list lemon, lime, and orange as being all naturally flavored too.  So for all of you out there who are familiar with various health food store-type ingredients, I hope that information helps you.  Anise, and clove contain no food coloring. 

For those with peanut allergies - there are no peanuts, peanut oil, no peanut anything made here at all.  Our seasonal flavor peanut butter candy also contains no peanuts nor peanut butter.   

We've been asked about storage for the regular hard candies as the label says storage in the refrigerator will hold their shapes over time.  Most people do not refrigerate the candies at all and that's fine as the candies don't go bad.  If they get sticky from sitting too long in a warm or humid environment, you can either put them in your frig or freezer for a short time to harden them up, -- or just eat them sticky, .......we have, many a time.  That statement is really only put on the label because our candies have a special crystal shape and many people order the candies for special occasions like weddings or gifts way in advance.  Refrigeration will ensure that the candies keep their shapes perfectly until you need them.  And of course common sense - things like leaving the candies in a hot unairconditioned car or room will of course cause them to get sticky faster. 

There are about 16-18 calories per piece of the regular hard candy, and the good news is you can't woof down a whole bag of hard candy as fast as you can a slice of cheesecake!
